2023/2024 Terms and Conditions

Introduction

These terms and conditions are designed to be brief and understandable and hopefully will help avoid any misunderstanding.

Bookings

Bookings are either made for an agreed Weekly Hourly Tutor Session for a Term or a Bi-Weekly Hourly Tutor Session for a Term. When making a booking, or continuing tuition into the next Term, you are agreeing to attend and pay for the Weekly or Bi-weekly Hourly Tutor Session for the whole of that Term. The Term dates are published on the Accelerate Tuition website or notified to you in advance.

One off tutor sessions can be agreed during holidays and weekends and these are mutually agreed in advance.

Term

Each Term typically covers 6 or 7 weeks are linked to local secondary school half term periods. (Term Dates)

Weekly Hourly Tutor Sessions

Tutor sessions can be provided either online or face to face in the tutor room. We reserve the right from time to time to move any face to face to online only although these will be keep to a minimum.

GCSE students are usually tutored weekly for one hour after school on Mondays to Fridays at the following times:

3.45pm to 4.45pm (this is reserved for Group Tuition)
4.50pm to 5.50pm
5.55pm to 6.55pm
7pm to 8pm

A-level students can be tutored weekly or bi weekly for one hour during the school day on Mondays to Fridays, with session times agreed in advance to fit in with free periods during the school day. It is up to the pupils and parents to notify their school of this arrangement in advance of the tutor session. A-level students can be tutored after school on Monday to Fridays by agreement, however there is an additional charge of £5 per hour for one to one tuition if this option is taken up, with the exception of Friday 7pm to 8pm.

Fees

GCSE students are charged £45 per hour for one to one tuition and £35 per hour per student for group tuition.
A-level students are charged £50 per hour for one to one tuition and £40 per hour per student for group tuition, however there is an additional charge of £5 per hour for one to one tuition if A-level students opt for a tutor session on a Monday to Friday after school, with the exception of Friday 7pm to 8pm.
If the fees are amended, this will only happen at the start of a term and you will be given a minimum of 30 days' notice of a change.

Invoicing and payment

Term fees for the whole of a term are invoiced at the beginning of each term with payment for the first three sessions made before the first tutor session of that term and payment for the remaining sessions of the term made before the fourth tutor session. For students starting partway through a term, term fees for the balance of the term are invoiced before the student starts with payment made before the first tutor session.
Any additional tutor sessions booked outside of terms are invoiced when booked and should be paid before the tutor sessions.

Payment of invoices should be made by bank transfer to the following bank account:

Bank: Barclays Bank
Account name: Accelerate Tuition
Account Number: 33423239
Sort Code: 20-74-05

If payment is not made on time, your booking for the Weekly Hourly Tutor Session or Bi-Weekly Hourly Tutor Session can be cancelled and offered to someone on the waiting list.

Refunds of term fees or rearrangement for non-attendance or IT problems during online tuition

There are no refunds of terms fees for non-attendance of sessions during a term or due to internet or computer problems arising from student IT equipment during online tuition. Likewise there is no rearrangement of such sessions unless the non-attendance is due to the student attending a school parent evening and notice of this non-attendance has been given at least 14 days prior to the session. If internet or computer problems arise from tutor IT equipment during online tuition, then these sessions will be rearranged. Rearranged sessions will normally be agreed at a mutually agreed time and will usually take place during holidays or in sessions cancelled by other students.
